Jammu, Mar 4: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking, the Jammu Police, under the vigilant guidance of SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, a police team from PP Sarwal, led by PSI Anil Thappa, made a major seizure, apprehending two drug peddlers and recovering a substantial quantity of heroin along with a significant amount of cash.
The operation unfolded when a police team from PP Sarwal, led by PSI Anil Thappa, was conducting routine checks near Toph Morh, close to a petrol pump. During the operation, they intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Vinod Kumar alias Kuda, hailing from Dogra Hall. Upon searching him, the team recovered 48 grams of heroin concealed on his person. The suspect, who was traveling on a Scooty bearing Registration No. JK02BM3367 from Best Price towards Subash Nagar, was promptly apprehended.
Following the arrest, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at the Bakshi Nagar Police Station, and further interrogation of the accused led to crucial information regarding the source of the contraband. The accused divulged that he had procured the heroin from Raja Singh, a resident of Majitha Road Pind Ganda Singh Wala, Amritsar, Punjab.
Acting swiftly on this information, the police conducted a raid at the suspected location in Jammu, where they apprehended Raja Singh. During the raid, law enforcement seized an additional 28 grams of heroin along with a substantial amount of cash totalling Rs. 2 lakh 30 thousand.
In total, the combined efforts of the Jammu Police led to the recovery of 75 grams of heroin, dealing a significant blow to drug trafficking operations in the region. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and further investigations into the case are underway. This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Jammu Police in combating the menace of drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
It is worth mentioning here that PSI Anil Thapa has joined just two weeks before and has already solved one kidnaping case and one missing case during short span of his duty at the police post Sarwal.
