Jammu, February 03: The District Magistrate Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya has taken a strong stand against irregularities in land mutations and illegal entries in Jammu district by issuing a resolute directive to nullify a land mutation, marked No. 42 and dated October 3, 2005, emphasizing its inconsistency with the law.
This decisive action follows a representation from applicants Sukhdev Singh, Romesh Singh, and Subash Singh, asserting ownership of 48 Kanal 07 Marla land in village Paragpura, Tehsil Akhnoor.
District Magistrate Vaishya, in his stern stance, has categorically stated that no illegal activity, encroachment, or unauthorized entries in land records will be tolerated. He further emphasized that any official found conniving with land grabbers or encroachers will face severe consequences, with strong action taken against them.
The applicants raised concerns about discrepancies in land records, despite their ownership since March 7, 2002. Tehsildar Pargwal’s detailed report, supported by relevant revenue records, confirmed the applicants’ ownership but revealed irregularities in the Fard issuance based on outdated Jamabandi records from 1966-67 instead of the latest available in 1995-96, contravening the Land Revenue Act.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that 34 Kanal 06 Marlas of the purchased land had been escheated to the State under the Agrarian Reform Act, 1976, through Mutation No. 24.
The District Magistrate highlighted two key violations: the escheatment of purchased land to the State and the illegal issuance of the Fard by revenue officials, violating provisions of the Land Revenue Act.
In response, District Magistrate Vaishya ordered the nullification of Mutation No. 42, specifically pertaining to the portion escheated to the State.
Tehsildar Pargwal received a directive to promptly implement the order in revenue records and submit an action taken report within 2 days.
The DM also issued directions that delinquent officials responsible for the illegal Fard issuance should be identified for further necessary action.
