Rajouri, January 27: Nine passengers were injured in a road mishap on a link road from Kakora to Dunga Nallah in Manjakot tehsil in Rajouri district on Saturday evening.
Sources said that a passenger vehicle Canter bearing registration No. JK 11-5057 was on its way to Dunga Nallah from Rajouri when the bus developed a technical problem on a steep slope reportedly due to outdated vehicle.
Eye witnesses said that due to the bad condition of the road maintained by PWD (R&B) and being an outdated vehicle, the vehicle skidded off the road as the driver attempted to climb the steep slope and it fell about 50 meter deep.
Immediately after the mishap, the locals rushed to the accident site and rescued the injured to PHCs at Kakora and Manjakot.
Later, seven injured, including the seriously injured driver, were referred to Associated Hospital Government Medical College (AH GMC) for specialized treatment.
“All the passengers admitted in the GMC hospital are safe and out of danger. There is no need for any panic,” said Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar, MS AHGMC.
Those under treatment in AH GMC include Kulzam Begam (60) r/o Tandwal; Mohd Ayan (4), Abid Hussain (7), Rukhsana Kousar (30), Waseem Khan (18), Mohd Ibrar (23), all residents of Kakora; & Sobia Kousar (18) r/o Plulian.
Gul Hussain (65) and Khadim Hussain (60), both residents of Kakora are under treatment in PHC at Kakora.
The police from Manjakot police station also reached the spot and helped in shifting of the injured. Taking cognizance of the matter the police started further investigation.
