Wild Life department takes six days to lodge FIR in killing of Hog deer; Police remains clueless after 5 days

Jammu, Jan 16: After five days, the incident of poaching/hunting of Hog deer occurred, the Department of Wildlife Protection J&K Government bothered to lodge FIR against the killer in the concerned police station.
Some miscreants have allegedly attacked on the Hog deer on January 08 with an intention to kill the said animal for their vested interest and the investigating team of Jammu Jottings came across about the unfortunate incident and followed the same. The said animal has received serious injuries in its body leading to the unnatural death. The ill-fated incident occurred in Chinore Frams Marh, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Gajansoo and Police Station Kanachak.
It was divulged that some persons had also telephonically informed the concerned police and officers of Wild Life Protection but the issue was not properly addressed.
On January 13, the DFO Wild Life wrote to concerned SHO and got the FIR registered vide No 10/2024 u/s 9/51 protection of wildlife act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at PS Kana Chak against unknown. Whereas, Wild Life Control room team carried away the injured hog deer on January 8th.
In this regard, the Police party detained some people from the spot but later they were left free under the influence of some political persons.
Team JJ was following the matter and tried to get official version on the same day but most of concerning officials refused and said nothing such have happened. Later the team approached DFO Wild Life who divulged that the deer got died because of injuries. Then DFO assured the JJ team that he will get the postmortem done.
The post-mortem of the Hog Deer was carried out by the Departmental Veterinary Officer at Manda, the report of which revealed that the animal has died due to deep injuries caused due to sharped edged weapon/article. Thus, from the post-mortem report it was clear that animal has died to serious
injuries, there are chances that someone has tried to poach / hunt the said animal. Department of Wild Life Protection therefore written to the Police officer concerning to register FIR in this regard under relevant sections. It was after that the Kanachak Police registered the FIR in this regard. But since than the Police seems to be clueless.
Killing of Hog deer is very serious offence. Locals and eyewitness confirmed that police detained some people from Chinore farm on the same day who injured the deer who were later released after a deal cracked in this matter under influence of a political leader.
Police till date is empty hands in this matter resulting in no arrests.
