Rajouri, December 23: The government has announced compensation and compassionate government jobs for the kin of three persons who were allegedly found dead at the site of an ambush where three jawans were martyred in an ambush by unidentified gunmen on Rajouri-Poonch road at Topa Pir.
Villagers alleged that the deceased, identified as Mohd Showkat (22) Safeer Hussain (45) and Shabir Ahmad (32) were among 8-10 people rounded up by the Army for questioning, a day after deadly attack on two Army vehicles by terrorists hiding in forests near Topa Pir.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu posted on X (earlier Twitter) on Saturday, “The death of three civilians was reported yesterday in Baffliaz of Poonch district. The medical legal formalities were conducted and legal action in this matter has been initiated by the appropriate authority. Government has announced compensation for each of the deceased. Further, the government has also announced compassionate appointments to the next of kin of each deceased,”.
Earlier Information & PR J&K posted on X claiming the death of 3 civilians in the Bafliaz area. “The medical legal formalities conducted and legal action in this matter has been initiated by the appropriate authorities”.
The army has also said that it will extend full support and cooperation in the conduct of the investigation by the police.
Since the deadly attack on two army vehicles by People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) terrorists, the army has initiated a multi-dimensional search operation in the entire area to flush out the terrorists involved in the attack.
According to reliable sources at least three of the soldiers were decapitated.
Meanwhile, according to a report, the Army has also initiated an internal investigation into the deaths of 3 civilians following allegations that they died in its custody.
