Unscheduled power cuts: Protest held in Rajouri; DC conducts inspection of Thudi Grid Station

Rajouri, December 18: Following several protests by the people across Rajouri district, especially in Rajouri Township, against the ‘worsening power situation due to long hours of unscheduled power cuts’, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Monday conducted thorough inspection of Thudi Grid Station Rajouri.
With a robust capacity of 132 KV, this pivotal infrastructure shoulders 60 percent of the district’s load, extending its reach to key areas such as Thannamandi, Manjakote, Rajouri, Koteranka, and Darhal.
For the last many days inhabitants of Rajouri are facing long hours of unscheduled power cuts due to lackadaisical attitude of the concerned employees of the PDD, especially engineers, who despite getting handsome salaries don’t bother to attend to the grievances of the people.
A strong protest against PDD engineers was held in Rajouri town today. People expressed their resentment against the XEN, AEE and concerned JE for not responding to people’s calls.
They warned to close the main Abdullah Bridge for the whole day if they failed to provide power as per schedule power curtailment.
During his visit to Thudi Grid Station Vikas Kundal assessed the power supply scenario and directed the concerned officials to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
He also directed the concerned officers to implement measures that would guarantee the seamless functioning of this crucial facility.
The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri also visited the Receiving Station at Thudi which has the capacity of 33/11 KV and directed the officers to devise and adhere to a meticulous curtailment schedule.
“By prioritizing the Thudi Grid Station, the administration aims to fortify the backbone of the district’s power grid, fostering economic growth and ensuring the well-being of its residents” said Vikas Kundal.
Among the others, SE PDD Rajouri, Sadaq Azad and officials of the Power Development Department accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during his visit.
