Police in action mood!
- They were involved in many robberies in past and now they have to pay through nose.

Jammu, Nov 8: The police of Jammu district under its newly appointed Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar have become very active and determined to make the district a crime-free zone.
Taking the cognizance of a written complaint received through Pintu Sharma son of Sat Pal Sharma resident of Kharak Kalakote on 16.10.2023 at Police Station Akhnoor regarding the robbery on the intervening night of 14/15 October 2023 from his loaded TATA Mobiles/Bolero plying from Jammu towards Kalakote and when they reached at Kappa Gala area then the vehicle was stopped by unknown persons who aftermath attacked upon them and looted cash Rs 25000 and 02 mobiles from their possession. Following the complaint the case was registered under FIR No 281/2023 US 392/2023 at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation was started.
Taking a serious note of this Bihar type looting offence in Jammu, the SP Rural Jammu Rahul Charak has constituted a special team headed by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, SHO Akhnoor Zaheer Mushtaq and Chowki Officer Chowki Choura PSI Pankaj Katoch.
During the investigation police team collected various technical evidences and leads and analyzed crime data of similar nature of offences from various districts and picked one suspect namely Mohd Kabir son of Firoz Din resident of Nerojal, Thanamandi District Rajouri and started interrogation.. During questioning/interrogation the suspect broke down and confessed his involvement in the said case and disclosed names of other his associates. The other accused are Mohd Gafoor son of Mohd Maqbul resident of Gambir Mughal Rajouri;
Haroon Rashid son of Abdul Rashid resident of Thanamandi Rajouri; Nadeem Khan son of Mohd Kabir resident of Nerojal Thanamandi Rajouri; and Danish Hussain son of Abdul Rashid resident of Koti Doda, involved in many incidents of similar nature. After identifying the accused, the special team raided many places in Punjab, Samba, Jammu & Rajouri, arrested all the accused.
The Special Team also recovered 02 cars Alto bearing registration numbers JK06- 1356 & JK11E- 6134, 02 motorcycles bearing registration numbers JK02BJ-8918 & JK02CD-5689, used by the accused while committing robberies. Besides, 02 snatched mobiles and 03 sharp edged weapons (Tokka’s) were also recovered from the possession of accused persons.
During the interrogation the accused have confessed about their involvement along with other accused, who are still absconding, in many cases and for that FIRs have been registered already. The cases alongwith FIRs are – 01) FIR No 368/2023; 02) FIR No. 380/2023; 03) FIR No. 430/2023; 04) FIR No. 437/2023 U/S 392 IPC of PS Nagrota; 05) FIR No. 110/2023 U/S 392/323/IPC, 4/25A. Act of PS Gangyal; 6) FIR No. 88/2023 U/S 457/392/34 IPC of PS Manjakote; 07) FIR No. 280/2023 U/S 392/458/34 IPC; 08) FIR No. 317/2023 U/S 392/458/34 IPC of PS Domana; 09) FIR No. 149/2023 U/S 392 of PS Vijaypur; and 10) FIR No. 239/2023 U/S 392 IPC of PS Jajjar Kotli.
This infamous gang was operating for last so many years and committing robberies on highways, besides in parking areas of many districts. The said arrests are considered as a big achievement for police and it is possible due to the effective strategy devised by the SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar.
The entire operation of special investigation team was carried out under the direct supervision of SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar IPS. In this connection, further investigation is going on and more arrests besides recoveries are expected very near in future.
