IGP Jammu’s maiden visit to Rajouri: Holds crime/law & order review meeting

• Interacted with civil society members & urged to help Police for better performance

Rajouri, November 8: During his maiden visit to Rajouri district after taking over the charge of IGP, Jammu Zone in the second week of October, Anand Jain-IPS, on Wednesday reviewed the crime/security position and overall functioning of District Police Rajouri, interacted with police officers/personnel and also interacted with the civil society members from across the district.
IGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, IPS was accompanied by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Haseeb Mugal, IPS was received by SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, IPS, and his team of officers.
Anand Jain was given a guard of honour at DPL Rajouri, on his arrival.
DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, IPS DIG briefed IGP Jammu Zone about the law & order, crime, and security scenario along with other initiatives being carried out by Police of twin districts of Pir Panjal Rajouri & Poonch.
He also highlighted measures taken to strengthen the security grid and improve policing.
During the meeting with all supervisory officers, including Station House Officers (SHOs), & investigating officers (IOs), IGP, Anand Jain reviewed the previous pendency and disposal of cases registered during the current year.
IGP instructed (IOs) and Supervisory Officers to improve the quality of investigation to ensure effective Parvy and Prosecution cases.
He also directed the officers to augment measures for improving the capability of personnel in dealing with Narco cases /UAPA cases.
“Contribute more by conducting supervisory meetings and by ensuring closer supervision of important cases, especially NDPS/UAPA cases to get better results for the remaining period of the year. Improve the quality of investigation and prosecution to increase the convictions,” IGP Anand Jain advised the officers.
IGP Jammu directed the officers to work with enhanced synergy and coordinated efforts to uproot the narco-terrorism in the Rajouri-Poonch Range & emphasized regular interactions/briefing of the subordinates at different levels.
“People’s cooperation in the fight against narco-terrorism and other crimes is a must. Seek people’s cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and other social crimes” IGP Jammu directed jurisdictional officers.
The SSP Rajouri gave an elaborate PowerPoint Presentation on the prevalent security scenario of the district and the overall position of the crime and its disposal.
Civil society members during interaction with IGP Jammu raised several issues including the installation of additional CCTV cameras at sensitive/important locations, strengthening of VDCs, &recruitment for border dwellers etc.
IGP Jammu appealed to civil society members to maintain law/order in their respective areas.
“Youth should be encouraged to participate in sports and constructive activities, ” said IGP Jammu.
J&K Police has commenced various awareness/engagement programs to prevent narcotics/drug menace from society and a special focus on the engagement of the youth by involving them in sports activities.
