ACB Rajouri trap & arrest TSO Rajouri for demanding/accepting bribe

Rajouri, Oct 11: Anti Corruption Bureau Rajouri on Wednesday caught red-handed Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) of the Department of Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Rajouri for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for making BPL Identity Document (ID) of his brother.
The accused arrested TSO has been identified as Mohd Reyaz.
According to the ACB press briefing, the complainant approached Ration Dealer Dil Mohd resident of Nambla (Rajouri) for the BPL ID of his brother to get a separate ration card from his father.
The ration dealer along with the complainant approached TSO, Mohd Reyaz for the same and also submitted the required /relevant documents for the issuance of BPL ID.
However, TSO deliberately delayed the issuance of BPL ID in favour of the complainant as he demanded Rs 20000 bribe for the same.
The complainant (name not disclosed) lodged a written complaint in the Anti-Corruption Bureau police station in Rajouri for taking legal action against TSO Rajouri, Mohd Reyaz.
“As the contents of complaint prima facie disclose the commission of offence punishable under section 7 of the PC Act 1988 by accused public servant, Mohd Reyaz, Tehsil Supply Officer, Rajouri. Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 05/2023 was registered at Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau Rajouri u/s 7 of the PC Act 1988 and the investigation was initiated,” said ACB Rajouri.
“During the course of the investigation, a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused Tehsil Supply Officer red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ?18,000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot after completing all legal formalities,” ACB Rajouri added.
ACB Rajouri officials also conducted a search in the office and residence of accused TSO, Mohd Reyaz and reportedly also seized some documents for further investigation into the case.
According to an unconfirmed report, Reyaz is a Master grade teacher in the Education Department and was sent to FCS&CA on deputation about 15 years ago & since then he has been working in the department of FCS&CA and also got the promotion.
If he is a teacher in the education department in the official records, then it is a matter of great concern & investigation why the senior concerned officer from both departments didn’t bother to send him back to his original place of posting despite directions from Lt Governor Administration.
