Infiltration bid foiled in Poonch: Two terrorists eliminated

3rd infiltration bid foiled in a month in Poonch, 5 terrorists killed

Rajouri, Sept 6: Within a month the alert troops of the Indian Army have eliminated 5 terrorists while crossing the Line of Control to enter the Indian soil in Poonch district.
“Two terrorists coming from across the border were observed crossing the Line of Control (LoC) on the intervening night of September 5 & 6 in the Mandi sub-sector of Poonch district. A Joint operation was launched immediately by the Army & Poonch police to intercept them,” said PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col.Suneel Bartwal.
As the terrorists approached the Indian ambush sites, they were challenged and then engaged with effective fire.
Both the terrorists taking advantage of hostile terrain, dense forest & steep gradients fired heavily on the Indian Forces.
“But in the effective firelight by our troops, that continued for a day, both the terrorists were eliminated. The body of one terrorist along with war like store was recovered while a search for the body of the second terrorist is in progress” said PRO.
On the intervening night of August 6 & 7, the Indian Army had eliminated a dreaded terrorist & Division Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Muneer Hussain r/o Bagyal Dara (Poonch) while attempting to cross the LoC in the Degwar-Malti area of Poonch sector.
On August 21, two terrorists were eliminated along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Hamirpur area of the Balakot sector in Poonch district while they were attempting to sneak into the Indian territory.
