Rajouri, August 7: In a tragic incident, a thirty-three-old man committed suicide at his home by shooting himself with a VDC weapon, registered in the name of his father, in a remote village of Triyath tehsil in Kalakot sub-division of Rajouri district.
The incident happened at about 9 pm on Sunday when Sanjay Singh s/o Janak Singh resident of Dugga-Panglar village, shoots himself with VDC weapon due to some family dispute and died on the spot.
The deceased’s father is a member of the Village Defence Committee and was present in the house.
Immediately after the incident family members and villagers informed the police at Triyath Police post.
A police team headed by the in-charge police post reached the spot and after legal formalities brought the body to PHC at Triyath. After medico-legal formalities and post-mortem, the police handed over the body to the family for his last rites.
The police have started an inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPC to know the reasons behind this extreme step taken by the deceased Sanjay Singh.
