ANTF recovers large quantity of multiple narcotics, arrest 9 peddlers

Jammu, Jul 06: With a pledge to wipe out the menace of drug abuse from society under the Union Governments program Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Anti-Narcotics Task Force Jammu a specialized unit of Jammu & Kashmir Police apprehended one person namely Taussif s/o Aslam r/o district Baramulla Kashmir.
The team recovered 1.76 quintals of Poppy Straw from the possession of accused and it is being believed that busted an interstate racket of drug peddlers, distributors and receivers. The narcotic was hidden very smartly into a fabricated cavity made in the vehicle. The operation was conducted by Shamsher Singh JKPS, ANTF Jammu Zone under the supervision of SSP ANTF J&K Raj Kumar JKPS. In this regards case FIR No 08 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS ANTF Jammu and investigation is set into motion.
With this recovery and arrest of drug peddler ANTF Jammu has been able to break the nexus of Narcotics drugs suppliers and receivers from Kashmir and Punjab respectively.
It is pertinent to mention here that ANTF J&K has been successful in registration of 6 FIRs within last few days in J&K and arrested 9 major drug peddlers of different states like J&K, Punjab, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan of which one FIR is registered in PS ANTF Kashmir and five in PS ANTF Jammu.
Few days back 2 persons were arrested with Heroin including one lady and case FIR No 4/2023 was registered at PS ANTF Jammu. Following day two kg of Charas was recovered from two more persons who were arrested, and Case FIR no 5/2023 was registered. One was from Mumbai and second was from Kolkatta. In another case Codeine phosphate bottles 200, Narco tablets 900 and capsules 216 were recovered from a drug peddler of Poonch and case FIR No 6/2023 was registered at PS ANTF Jammu. The fourth recovery of 3.600 kg of Charas was made from one person and FIR NO 07/23 was registered at PS ANTF Jammu. In this way ANTF has been successful in breaking the chain of narcotic smugglers, drug peddlers, distributors and receivers. The forward and backward linkages are being ascertained.
ANTF J&K has appealed the general public particularly the youth to stay away from drugs and to share any kind of information regarding drug related activities with ANTF so that strict legal actions are taken against such drug dealers. The identity of the informant as well as whistle-blower shall be kept confidential. Persons found in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law. The community participation in fight against drug abuse can serve the purpose of complete eradication of the menace of drugs from our society.
