Rajouri, May 10: In the wake of the presence of 3-4 groups of terrorists in Rajouri & Poonch districts and after three terror attacks, in which 10 soldiers attained martyrdom and 9 civilians have also lost their lives, all the Army schools in both the district have been closed till May 20.
The main aim behind the closing of the Army schools, including Army Goodwill Public School, Army Velley View Public school (in Rajouri) and Army Pinewood Public School Hamirpur (in Poonch district) are situated in vulnerable areas & can be soft targets for terrorists.
“Army schools have been closed on security grounds under prevailing situation and students are put in an online teaching mode till further order” said PRO, Defence.
After the announcement the third G20 Tourism Working Group meeting between May 22 & 24 in Srinagar and another meeting in Leh, Pakistan has expressed strong resentment and making every effort to disturb these meetings.
On January 1& 2 seven people were killed in Dhangri village of Rajouri district when terrorists struck in the village. The perpetrators are still at large.
On April 20, in a gruesome terror attack by the terrorists on an Army truck, 5 soldiers attained martyrdom and another was injured. In this terror attack again the perpetrators involved are still untraced.
In an another well planned and executed attack on Army party in dense forests in Kotranka sub- division on May 5, five Para Commandos attained martyrdom and one terrorist was eliminated next day.
At all these places intensive search operations are in progress to track and eliminated the terrorists, but without any success to date.
On Monday at about 9 pm, two unidentified persons in black dresses and carrying bag asked a labourer woman, living in a rented room in Saranoo-Dhangri area, to keep their bags.
Apprehending trouble, woman rushed out to inform the landlord & others. By the time people reached the spot, both had disappeared.
Since then, search operations are in progress in the forests in Dhangri, Saranoo and Bathooni areas.
Meanwhile, an alert has been sounded in Rajouri-Poonch districts and Security Forces have launched several search operations.
Police is making the announcement on public addresses to aware the people not to touch or pick any unknown or mysterious object. Don’t allow parking of two wheelers in front of shops/business establishments, contact police/SFs over the movement of suspects etc.
