- Show cause notices to 21 officials, including HODs to clear their positions
- To eradicate poor work culture exercise will continue throughout year: DC Poonch

Rajouri, April, 19: During surprise inspections of the government offices on Saturday being conducted by a team of officers headed by Additional DC Poonch, 14 employees were found unauthorised absent from their legitimate duties and have been placed under suspension by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet Singh, JKAS.
Besides the suspension of 14 employees, show cause notices have been also issued to 21 employees, including gazetted officers of Jal Shakti, PMGSY & Floriculture departments to clear their positions for unauthorised absence during inspections.
The action (surprise checking) was taken after several complaints from different quarters, PRIs, general public regarding employees working in different offices not attending to their duties regularly & not performing their assigned legitimate duties.
Working on the complaints Deputy Commissioner Poonch formed a committee of officers headed by Additional DC, Tahir Mustafa Malik(JKAS) to conduct surprise inspections across all the government offices In a phased manner.
During inspections of several offices, including Jal Shakti, PMGSY etc, the team members found several employees out of the office during office hours.
“Those found absent have not sanctioned leave in their favour nor have maintained any movement register for field visits. Few HODs were found unaware of the whereabouts of their immediate staff as well as field staff. Even few HODs were also found absent during office hours,” said an official.
On the report and recommendations of Additional DC, Deputy Commissioner Poonch placed 14 employees under suspension and during the suspension period they shall remain attached to the concerned DDO office.
“Strict disciplinary action will be initiated against such an erring employee as per conduct rules on not receiving satisfactory explanations”, said the DC.
He further directed all the controlling officers to move towards a professional work culture and maintain the sanctity of government offices for which employees are paid handsomely.
“There will be zero tolerance towards poor and unprofessional work culture. the general public should not suffer because of such erring employees” said the DC.
“Deputy Commissioner’s Office will keep a track of all government offices working in all tehsils and such surprise inspections will be a regular phenomenon throughout the year and will be conducted in various phases covering all the government offices across the districts,” he added.
