Rajouri, April 5: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Amritpal Singh, IPS, has suspended five police officials, including the ‘police guard’ in-charge, for dereliction of duties at the District Court Complex
SSP has also initiated an inquiry after unidentified burglars struck in the Court Complex and decamped with some seized articles/ case property after breaking the locks of the Malkhana on the intervening night of April 3 and 4.
In this connection, the police have registered a case at Rajouri police station under sections 380 (theft in any building), and 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night) IPC (FIR No.143/2023) and started a fast-track investigation, including with the help of sniffer dog.
SSP said that during the intervening night of 3 & 4 April, 2023, information was received that some unknown thieves have broken the locks of the Malkhana of District Court complex Rajouri and stolen some seized articles/case property.
“During the initial phase, police analysed the crime scene with the assistance of FSL team. Police are also analysing the technical evidence related to the scene of the crime,” said SSP.
He added that the police have also rounded up various suspects for questioning.
The officials placed under suspension have been identified as guard in-charge, Assistant Sub Inspector Tariq Mehmood; selection grade constable (SGCt), Mohd Sharief, and Ghulam Nabi, Mohd Munshi & Murtaza Khan, all SPOs.
The inquiry team will be headed by Deputy SP DAR, Parupkar Singh.
It is pertinent to mention here that the District Court Complex situated in old Rajouri town is a highly protected complex comprising of Courtrooms and residences of Judges.
The incident of burglary despite having a strong police deployment at Malkhana and at the gate of the Court Complex is not possible without the involvement of insiders.
As per initial reports, the burglars decamped with seized currency and narcotics.
Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh, IPS has placed under suspension Guard in-charge and four other officials for dereliction of duties.
“The investigation is going on and a breakthrough is expected very soon,” said SSP.
