Four labourers received injuries when touched high-tension wires

Rajouri, March 30: In an alleged incident of negligence on the part of Lineman and Sarpanch, four labourers received critical burn injuries when an electric pole touched high-tension wires during the erecting process in Kalakot tehsil in Rajouri district.
The incident happened in Sadda village in the evening on Thursday.
Sources said during the construction of the road the contractor had removed an electric pole due to which the inhabitants of the area and school management were facing difficulties.
The school head and the locals contacted Sarpanch, Mohd Sharief to resolve the matter.
On Thursday evening sarpanch and lineman, Babu Khan started erecting the removed pole.
But, the Sarpanch and lineman forget to inform the concerned senior officials, including JE & AEE, to disconnect the power on the adjoining 11 kV high- tension wire.
During the erecting process, four labourers holding the pole lost grip on it and the pole touched the 11 KV high-tension wire resulting in critical injuries to all four labourers.
The injured labourers were shifted to Community Health Center (CHC) at Kalakot After the initial treatment two of the injured were referred to Associated Hospital Government Medical College for specialised treatment.
The injured labourers were identified as Mohd Arshid (18, scalp & hand injuries); Mohd Rashid (50, chest and foot injuries); Yogesh Kumar (24, referred to GMC Jammu for plastic surgery), and Kulbinder Singh (21, scalp, hand, and foot injuries).
All the injured labourers are residents of the Sadda village.
Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the incident, the police registered a case and started an investigation.
