Jammu, Mar 16: Why not the Enquiry Committee has done anything after the lapse of 15 days instead of three days positively mentioned in enquiry order? Why the DFO Jammu has not pushed the enquiry committee for speedy enquiry? Why the Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu is silent over such burning issue of illegal cutting/felling of trees in general and Khair trees in particular? Who will be actively get the matter enquired to hold person responsible for illegal felling of trees? Who engineered the conspiracy to repeat the same village Thandi Choi in the single cycle in the violation of Supreme Court directions by writing the name wrongly as Chandi Choi instead of Thandi Choi in permission? Who is to blame for such manipulation and conspiracy against the department? These are very typical questions irritating in the mind of people and need immediate reply from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, J&K and Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu division.
Viewing the excess delay being made by the enquiry committee and even after adding two more senior Forest officers in the said committee on March 8, one complainant today has approached the Conservator of Forest, East Circle Jammu B Mohan dass IFS. The complainant has clearly mentioned in his complaint that ranger Pawan Sharma patronising the illegal cutting/felling in his range and he is the regular offender as he in connivance with unsocial and criminal elements enter in illegal felling and cutting of the trees. The complaint further said that in the lieu of permission a large number of Khair trees were illegally cut and fallen not only in Thandi Choi but in adjoining villages too including Balli, Dori, Gulaba and others.
The complainant has exposed the revenue department and said that the revenue department in connivance with field staff of forest department has managed the illegal feeling which is big scam. The complainant revealed that there is more than 10000 kanal of land belonging to Forest in one way or other way but the concerned Tehsildar has twisted the facts and said that there is no Forest land. The complainant mentioned some of the Khasra No of Forest land 212, 213, 379, 380, 386 and others too. The fraud which is being played by the Tehsildar in this scam is like that land was entered as Shamlat but the column defining the kind of land has kept unfilled. Even the contractor has cut the trees illegally falling in other village Targwal and the reports are there that more than 50 khair trees had been cut and moreover the wood had been transported openly in violation.
It seems that not only Ranger Pawan Sharma is involved in high level scam but some of senior officers of forest are also involved in this.
The Conservator of Forest, East Circle Jammu has taken the matter seriously and assured the complainant that he would enquire the issue deeply and no one will be spared let it be any senior officer too.
It is hoped the enquiry would get a boost and the Conservator of Forest, East Circle Jammu will be take the issue seriously. The officials involved in this scam would be booked as early as possible.
