Jammu, Mar 08: Why the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu & Kashmir silent over the illegal cutting/felling of trees and especially Khair trees from Thandi Choi, Khour? What is going on within Forest department as illegal felling are going on unbridled? Who will stop the illegal felling in Forest department? Why the entire department seems to be helpless over the illegal felling? Why not the department order to identify the boundary pillars of the said areas? These are some very tough question for the Forest department to work on it and to reply.
The Forest department has ordered an enquiry to investigate the illegal felling of trees and Khair trees in Akhnoor and Khour sub division that too after the news published in Jammu Jottings on March 02, 2023. The news left no option for the Forest officer except to order an inquiry. The enquiry committee was headless but now the department has added two senior officers in the committee namely Tariq Bashir ACF and Darminder Sharma DFO, whereas, B Mohan Daas, IFS Conservator east circle is closely monitoring the matter.
The Enquiry Committee at first must identify the boundary at this stage as this is very mandatory to identify the forest boundary for completing the fair enquiry in the matter of illegal felling of Khair Trees.
The reports said that there is mystery of missing Boundary Pillars of the forest department in the territory and such situation is creating confusion. The million dollar question is that who damaged these boundary pillars and what was the intention behind this?
The role of revenue department is also under suspect as some blue eyed officers in Revenue department has played a crucial role in convince with field forest official to execute this scam of illegal felling. Revenue Department is time and again pushing that there is no state and no forest land in Thandi Choi but documents in our custody reveals something different. Higher officials in Revenue Department should also constitute an independent committee to verify their facts otherwise in coming days we will come up with evidences.
This is not a small scam but the said scam is much more than what was being shown or seen. With each passing day, this is getting bigger in our investigation. The Compartment 29 and adjacent villages touching boundaries with Thandi Choi must be thoroughly investigated.
