Jammu, Mar 05: Polytechnic can be shortly described as technical diploma course. The course comprises vocational education in the specialized streams of science, technology, engineering or any other technical subject. In addition to teaching a Polytechnic Lecturer may also lead student groups in the completion of special projects outside of the classroom. Many lecturers also supervise students while performing important academic research. Due to an extended workload, many full time lecturers work long hours and it is not unusual for some to forfeit vacation days in order to complete demanding research projects. In order to become a successful polytechnic lecturer, it is, therefore important for individuals applying for such positions to have a passion for teaching within a particular discipline and performing research and leading students towards successful outcomes.
Principal Secretary to the Govt. Skill Development Department issued govt.order No. 34 JK (DSD) of 2022, dated 15-04-2022 under Subject: Transfer and Posting of faculty members of SDD (Polytechnic)in the interest of administration for transfer of 38 faculty members. All moved and joined new places of posting except one at S No. 23, Shakeel Ahmed, Lecturer l (Computer), presently deployed in Directorate, SDD, and was transferred to Govt. Polytechnic Anantnag. Before that deployment he was deployed at BOTE as Deputy Registrar. So, instead of basic fixed job of teaching in Polytechnic he has been assigned administrative tasks. Looking the matter from the administrative prism his services might be required at the present position being an expert in computer knowledge but the trainees for whom he is engaged in the department are feeling and rightly so,short of one well reputed expert in the Subject. On the other hand those senior to Shakeel Ahmed, Lecturer, also feel themselves in an inconvenient position when they get a mand from his superior position. Some even see a grey colour on the canvass of the scenery. During his tenure at BOTE, one Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh was also attached with him as Head Assistant there. Actually he was posted at KGP Srinagar. Now on the demand of the Shakeel Ahmed, Lecturer, he has been again attached at SDD in the capacity of SO. What is the chemistry that binds them together is a matter of consideration. The source discloses that the matter was brought to the notice of Adm Department and another latter was issued regarding the matter under No. DSD-Poly/149/2021-02, dated, 11-05-2022 to Director Skill Development to direct all concerned officers to implement Govt. Order No .34-JK (DSD)of 2022 dated 15-04-2022 in letter and spirit, without fail and submit detail of defaulters on the account, if any, so that action as warranted under rule may be initiated against them for non-compliance of Govt. Order. Why is Shakeel Ahmed, Lecturer l Computer an exception being Director SDD a defaulter and why not an action in this case.
