Two teachers, one room for 118 students of govt MS Planch

Rajouri, Feb 24: The school Education Department failed to provide the sanctioned/required teaching staff in many government schools.
Government schools in the Rajouri district, especially situated in rural & remote areas, are grappling with the unavailability of teachers, especially subject teachers.
The government middle school in Planch village of Khawas education zone in Kotranka sub-division of the district is a glaring example of government-run school where there are only two teachers for 118 students enrolled.
Not only does the school face a dearth of teaching staff, but there is only one room for 8 classes.
On Friday, the Sarpanch of Bhella Panchayat Halqa, Chain Singh raised the issue (WhatsApp) of middle school Planch and appealed to Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri to intervene & provide the required sanctioned teaching staff.
“The matter was also raised with Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) several times and even requested to send at least one more teacher to this school from MS Bhella, where 5 teachers are posted for 65 students, but no cooperation from his side till date,” said Chain Singh.
Instead of arranging a second teacher for middle school (MS) Planch, the ZEO shifted a teacher from MS Bhella (Bhella Panchayat) to MS at Damlar in Khawas Panchayat, he added.
The Sarpanch expressed his concern over the future of students of MS Planch who are suffering and not getting a good quality education.
While talking to reporters, CEO, Sultana Kousar said: “The education department here in Rajouri district facing a shortage of teachers & infrastructure. The matter has been raised with higher authorities and it is hoped that soon all the shortcomings will be sorted out”.
