Is Sports Council J&K in deep slumber?
- The then three VIPs including two minister RS Chib & Sham Lal Sharma and on MP Madan Lal Sharma had laid down the foundation stone on 08-05-2010 but they played cruel joke with youth of Akhnoor.
- The Department of Youth Services & Sports must realize its mistake and complete the said sports Stadium with shortest possible time.
- It is an Outdoor Sports Stadium and not a Play Field and why some officers of the department are giving wrong narrative to it.
- The reports that some officers are misleading the Lieutenant Governor and are presenting their performances on papers but ground reality is being depicted by pics and totally contrary.

Jammu, Jan 13: Why the J&K State Sports Council has not completed the construction work of Sports Stadium at Palma in Akhnoor after passing 12 years, 8 months and 6 days? Who is responsible for such long delay in the completion of construction work of Sports Stadium? Why the Department of Youth Services & Sports is in deep slumber that it could not complete the Sports Stadium in Akhnoor which is very near to Jammu City? Why the Department of Youth Services & Sports deprived off the youth of Akhnoor from their legitimate right of preparing for the participation in high level competition? Why the officers of Department of Youth Services & Sports including Sports Council held responsible for such long delay and they must be penalized heavily for causing loss to aspirants of Akhnoor? Why not government must identify the officers responsible for the delay and book them anti-government activities, besides declare them deadwood officers? Why some officers are terming Outdoor Sports Stadium Akhnoor as Play Field and what is their intention? These are some harsh questions irritating in the mind of people and government must come forward to reply all such questions to satisfy the people thirst.
It is very shocking but it is true that the then two ministers Mr RS Chib Minister for Youth Services & Sports and Mr Sham Lal Sharma (now in BJP) Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture & he was a local MLA, besides his brother Late Mr Madan Lal Sharma who was then a powerful MP has laid the foundation stone with great pomp & show to show the people that they are working untiringly for the cause of people. Both the Ministers remained in power till December 2014 and the MP Madan Lal Sharma remained in power till May 2014 but trio deliberately ignored their own project which could be completed in four years as per the technical experts.
The construction work on the said Sports Stadium has not finished and the Stadium could not see the light for its commissioning to be thrown open for the public. The reports allegedly said that the said Stadium has not been commissioned to throw open for public. The reports further said that there is only one employee who is taking care of the said stadium.
Although on the foundation stone it is mentioned as sports stadium but J&K Sports Council is now using the term Play Field for this which is also a question what it actually is?
Most intriguing part of the story is that the said stadium was equipped with hi-tech floodlights to provide facility for night sports activity but these hi-tech floodlights have not been given power connections so that those can be lightened.
It is pertinent to mention that on 08-05-2010 the foundation stone was laid by three the then VIPs including two ministers and one member parliament. The two ministers included one Youth Services & Sports RS Chib and Mr Sham Lal Sharma (now in BJP) Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture & he was a local MLA, besides his elder brother who was native of Akhnoor but MP from Jammu-Poonch constituency. But it is very said after laying the foundation stone no one from the three had taken the issue seriously but they had played tactics with the people of Akhnoor.
To have an official view I have contacted with Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Gul but could not have her views over the issue. Then I contacted with Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer but he replied that the issue of construction work did not pertain to him so he cannot reply to this and then I contacted with concerned Executive Engineer of Sports Council but failed to get his comments over the issue.
