Rajouri, Dec 28: In the wake of Wednesday’s Jammu encounter, in which four heavily armed militants were gunned down by the Security Forces near Sidhra on the outskirts of Jammu city, security forces have been put on alert in Rajouri and Poonch border districts.
Besides frisking of the vehicles and people traveling on the Jammu-Poonch highway, reportedly the counter-infiltration grid, already in force in both border districts, has been placed on high alert.
Rajouri police along with the Special Operation Group (SOG) of District Rajouri police headed by SHO, Inspector Fareed Ahmed in the late evening hours on Wednesday laid a special ‘Naka’ at Sailani Bridge on the Jammu-Poonch highway.
All the vehicles; including private cars, commercial vehicles, trucks etc, coming from Poonch & Jammu sides were put to frisking and the police also checked the identity cards of the travelers.
Even the security checkpoints on the Jammu-Poonch Highway have increased vigilance and are checking all types of vehicles.
Both the border districts have strict security measures in place and vehicles are being inspected to guarantee complete safety.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the last few months, several attempts were made by the Pakistan Army in nexus with ISI to push the trained terrorists into Indian Territory from BG, KG, Nowshera and Poonch sectors.
Three terrorists were killed in the Degwar area in the Poonch sector on November 3 and the Army recovered 2 AK rifles & 2 pistols.
On November 17, Army killed one terrorist in the Kalal area (Nowshera) & recovered AK 56 rifle & 1 Kg of narcotics from his possession.
On August 23, two terrorists were killed in the Nowshera sector and the next day, in a foiled infiltration bid, the Army captured alive one terrorist, namely Tabarak who on September 4 died in the Army hospital during treatment.
