Three COVID deaths during last 4 days; ET recover Rs 39,300 fine from violators

Rajouri, Jan 21: With one more death, 3rd during the last 4 days and 4th in the third wave, due to COVID-19 on Friday, the death tally in the Rajouri district has reached 243, second-highest among the ten districts of Jammu province after Jammu district with 1180 deaths.
A 75-year old patient, a resident of Darhal tehsil died in the Army hospital at Rajouri in the evening today.
Out of reports for 4854 tests received on Friday, 62 persons were tested positive including health workers.
As per the district Health Department, 405 persons were detected positive during the last seven days (January 14-21), 3 patients died while 162 patients have also recovered during this period.
At present, there are 447 active cases in the Rajouri district out of which 413 are in home isolation while 34 are in isolation in various hospitals (GMC, Army, BSF MCH, and Triage).
According to Rajouri Health Department, 2643 children in the 15-17 year age group have been vaccinated in the district on Thursday thus taking the number to 28099 (64%).
Meanwhile, Enforcement teams have fined 356 violators of COVID SOPs and have recovered a fine worth Rs 39,300 thus taking the total amount fined since April 1, 2021 to Rs 82,09,374.
Vikas Kundal, DC today visited Government Medical College and Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) and inspected the functioning of the newly installed RT PCR machine there.
With the installation of the 2nd RT-PCR machine the capacity of tests has raised from 1500 samples per day to 2000.
The DDC was also informed that sometimes the COVID samples are brought without labeling which causes a lot of inconvenience during the testing procedure.
The DDC asked the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mehmood Hussain Bajar to make sure that all the COVID samples being brought to the GMC & AH are properly labelled.
