For celebrating Pakistan cricket team win on WhatsApp, woman OT technician sacked

Rajouri, Oct 28: Acting tough against those celebrating Pakistan cricket team’s win over Indian team in a viral video on WhatApp , Principal Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri has terminated the services of one female Operation Theatre (OT) Technician.
She was engaged by the Principal, GMC&AH on Academic Arrangement basis in the year 2020
The action came after deputy SP HQs forwarded the WhatsApp video of the woman employee Safia Majeed to the Principal, GMC&AH and he also came across the video on social media platforms.
Under SRO-24 dt 27/11/2020 (now S.O 364) Safia Majeed resident of Srinagar was engaged at GMC&AH Rajouri on an Academic Arrangement basis and was working as Operation Theatre (OT) Technician.
Principal’s order issued on Thursday reads: “Miss Safia Majeed OT Technician seems to have posted her WhatsApp status showing celebration of defeat of Indian Cricket team against Pakistan in T-20 World Cup 2021, the activity which seems to be disloyalty towards the nation”.
He said no employee of this institution shall be allowed to be disloyal to the nation and added as reported by the HoD Gynaecology & Obstetrics the said Safia proceeded on casual leave for five days from October 21 & also failed to join her duties on expiry of said leave.
“No prior notice is required to be given to such employee for gross indiscipline in her duties. Hence, keeping in view facts & circumstances, it is hereby ordered that the services of Miss Safia engaged on Academic Arrangement under SRO -24 stand terminated with immediate effect” reads Principal, GMC& AH order.
