Notorious Drug Peddler’s Property Seized Under SAFEMA in Poonch

ASP Mohan Sharma Leads Major Action Against Illegal Narcotics Network

Poonch, Nov 22: In a strong push against the narco-terror network operating in the region, Poonch Police on Friday seized a residential house belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Surankote. The property, valued at around ?60 lakh, was attached under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).
The action was carried out by Surankote Police under the overall supervision of ASP Poonch Mohan Sharma, with coordinated efforts by DSP Surankote Surinder Singh and SHO Surankote Aijaz Wani.
Police identified the accused as Sajjad Hussain Shah, a resident of Potha, who has been booked in multiple NDPS cases and is presently lodged in District Jail Udhampur under PIT-NDPS detention. Officials said the attachment is part of sustained efforts to choke the financial channels of drug traffickers.
According to police, Poonch district has in recent months witnessed a series of actions against narcotics networks, including attachment of properties worth several crores and freezing of multiple bank accounts showing suspicious or disproportionate transactions.
ASP Mohan Sharma said the police remain committed to dismantling the drug trade in the district. Authorities have appealed to the public to share credible inputs to help curb the menace.
