Rajouri, November 22: Three teenagers from Saranoo village under the jurisdiction of Rajouri Police went missing from their homes on Saturday.
According to the police, residents Rashad Mehmood, Talib Hussain, and Altaf Hussain filed a missing person report at Rajouri Police Station, stating that their teenage sons had disappeared.
Sources said that Shadab Ahmad (13), a 9th-class student and son of Rashad Mehmood; Israr Ahmad (18), an 11th-class student and son of Talib Hussain; and Mehtab Ahmad (15), a 10th-class student and son of Altaf Hussain — all residents of Ward No. 7, Saranoo, and students of Higher Secondary School Dhangri — have gone missing.
Sources added that Mehtab Ahmad and Shadab Ahmad are mama and bhanja, while Israr is their neighbour.
Rashad Mehmood informed that all three left for school at about 8:30 am, but according to school authorities, they did not attend their classes on Saturday.
“At about 5 pm, when the trio didn’t return home, we tried to contact Israr on his mobile phone, but it was switched off. Later, we contacted our relatives in different areas of the district, but no trace of the three boys was found,” said Rashad.
“When the boys didn’t turn up till 7:30 pm, we approached the police at Rajouri Police Station and lodged the missing report,” he added.
After searching for them on their own and failing to trace the boys, the parents finally filed the missing persons report with the police. The police have begun an investigation, but as of the time of filing this report, no clue about the missing teenagers has been found.
Rashad Ahmad has categorically denied any terror link to the disappearance of the young boys, but admitted that they might have been misguided by vested interests to work as helpers with truck drivers.
