Jammu South Police Delivers Twin Blows to Narcotics Network; Major Heroin Recoveries Strengthen Crackdown

Jammu, Nov 22: In a decisive and relentless offensive against drug trafficking, Jammu Police, South Zone, achieved two major breakthroughs, recovering a total of 296.35 grams of Heroin in separate but interconnected operations. The twin actions have further tightened the noose around organized narcotics networks operating in and around the region.
In the first operation, a vigilant team of Police Post Nehru Market, while conducting routine patrolling in the Ware House area, established a Naka near Tawi River Front Gate on Chunna Bhatti Road. During checking, the team intercepted Mohd Younas, son of Faizal Ahmed, resident of Ganganagar, near Convent School, Bantalab. A thorough personal search led to the recovery of a transparent polythene packet containing 18.35 grams of Heroin-like substance.
Following the seizure, an FIR No. 254/2025 under section 111BNS and sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The accused was arrested on the spot, and investigators are now probing his possible linkages with larger supply chains. Police stated that this recovery underscores the constant attempts by peddlers to push narcotics into the city and the equal determination of police teams to thwart such attempts.
In a separate but more significant development on the same day, Jammu Police South Zone achieved another major success linked to FIR No. 249/2025 of Police Station Gandhi Nagar. The earlier case had already resulted in the seizure of 3 kg 260 grams of Heroin, one of the largest in recent years, along with the arrest of two key accused.
During sustained interrogation of one of the accused, Karan Sharma, son of Gopal Das Sharma, resident of Jourian, Akhnoor and presently living in Trikuta Nagar, he made disclosure statements regarding additional narcotics concealed elsewhere. Acting swiftly, the police recovered 278 grams of Heroin from his scrap shop located in Preet Nagar.
This fresh recovery has exposed the deeper, well-organised, commercial-scale operations of the accused, indicating that the network extended far beyond initial estimations. The investigation team is now actively identifying the procurement routes, distributors, handlers, and financial beneficiaries associated with the contraband. Several leads are being pursued, and more arrests are anticipated.
