Kulgam, Nov 22: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kulgam today conducted a large-scale mock drill in collaboration with the 13th Battalion NDRF, SDRF, Civil Defence, and the Fire & Emergency Services to bolster disaster preparedness and assess the readiness of response teams in the district. The exercise, held at multiple locations, focused on enhancing coordination among various emergency services, simulating real-time disaster scenarios, and evaluating the efficiency of rescue and relief operations. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmad Giri, who supervised the drill, said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that all response teams remain fully equipped and well-trained to deal with emergencies. “The mock drill was organised to ensure that in the event of any emergency in the district, response teams including SDRF, NDRF, and volunteers are well-trained and capable of performing their duties efficiently,” the ADC said. Officials from DDMA added that such exercises will continue to be conducted periodically to further strengthen the district’s disaster response mechanism and improve coordinated action during crises.
