Dhangri terror attack death toll risen to 7, Prince succumbs to injuries

People demanded NIA investigation gave 2 days time to administration

Rajouri, Jan 8: Another injured in Dhangri twin terrorist attacks, namely Prince Sharma (20) succumbs to critical injuries at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu in the wee hours on Sunday. Six persons, including two minors, were killed on January 1 & 2 in a terrorist attack and IED blasts respectively.
With the death of Prince Kumar, the death toll in twin terror incidents in Dhangri village has risen to seven.
After the death of Prince Kumar once again resentment against the intelligence agencies, Security Forces (SFs) witnessed and inhabitants of the area refused to cremate him till the investigation was not handed over to NIA.
Prominent citizens, political leaders, Sarpanch, family members and relatives of the deceased (martyrs) alleged that despite assurances by the LG Administration, & top brass of the police/Civil Administration no action has been taken against those who were responsible for the security lapse in sensitising the area after the massacre on Sunday evening and on Monday two minor innocent lost their lives in an IED blast.
They also demanded the deployment of RR coy at Dhangri instead CRPF to restore security, & confidence among the terrorised people.
They raised their demands before MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma ; Ravinder Raina, BJP State President, Vikas Kundal, District Magistrate, who were present in the house of Prince.
“After consultation with higher authorities and the assurance of handing over the investigation to NIA, we performed the last rites of Prince on Sunday evening. Two days time was given for the action otherwise, we will launch another protest” said Dherraj Kumar, Sarpanch.
A pall of gloom descended on the Dhangri village as the body of the deceased reached his home in the afternoon in the presence of hundreds of people.
It was a heart-wrenching scene when inconsolable mother Suraj Devi saw the body of Prince.
The Dhangri was already grieving as the relatives of the slain civilians were also leaving the village for Haridwar to immerse the ashes of the deceased in the holy Ganges.
Prince’s elder brother Deepak Kumar (23) was the first who was killed in the terrorist attack on January 1 when terrorists first barged into their house and opened Prince & cousin Rohit.
Both were injured at that time Deepak was on the road outside.
On hearing fire sound, Deepak rushed inside to enquire what happened; terrorists opened sprayed bullets on him killing him on the spot.
Deepak was to join Army within the next few days of the killing while Prince was a casual employee with Jal Shakti Department after the death of his father. Now only their mother is surviving.
The terrorists involved in Dhangri massacre are still at large and all the security forces, and entire intelligence grid, including Central & State, are on their toes to trace the fleeing terrorists but to date without any success.
“Operation to nab terrorists involved in the Dhangri attack continued by the Indian Army along with other SFs operating in the region, particularly in Rajouri & Poonch district,” said Army.
