Rajouri, Sept 4: Will Pakistan take back the body of Tabarak Hussain–hard core terrorist-cum-ISI trained guide and a member of the fidayeen group–a resident of POK who was captured alive on the LoC by the Indian Army and on Saturday succumbs to injuries in the Army hospital at Rajouri in J&K.
Pakistan has an old habit of disowning and refusing to accept the bodies of its own people, including Mumbai attacks gunman Ajmal Kasab, intruders killed on the LoC/IB and the bodies of officers & soldiers killed during Kargil war.
In the case of Tabarak Hussain it is again expected-old habits die hard- that Pakistan will refuse to take back his body because if Pakistan claims the body it would be exposed before the International Community.
On the other hand on August 24, Tabarak in front of a galaxy of media cameras while under treatment in the Army hospital disclosed his identity and had claimed to be a part of Fidayeen Group of 6 members, who was tasked to execute Fidayeen attack on the Indian forward post in Jhangar sector (Nowshera) in Rajouri district in the morning on August 21.
The Indian Army through hotlines has informed its counterparts about handing over the body of Tabarak Hussain and the response in this matter is expected on Monday.
“Tabarak Hussain was an established resident of Sabzkot village in PoK as he was arrested in 2016 (on LoC in Jhangar in Nowshera) along with his brother and both were repatriated in 2019 after completing prison sentence. He was again captured on August 21 from the same location,” said Dr. Haseeb Mughal, DIG, Rajouri-Poonch Police Range.
“Whether Pakistan accepts his body or not it would be clear on Monday, however, the police have completed all the legal and international formalities before handing over his body to the Pakistan authorities” Dr. Haseeb added.
The body of Tabarak will be handed over to Pakistan authorities/family members at Cross- LoC point at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district.
Even, according to reliable sources, the body has reached at Poonch.
Tabarak Hussain r/o Sabzkot (PoK) and his brother Haroon Ali in the month of April in 2016 had crossed over to this side from the same location along with 3 terrorists (who managed to retrieve) to plant IEDs on the patrol tack of Indian soldiers and the Indian Army apprehended them.
In 2017, on humanitarian grounds both were repatriated via Bagha-Attari border after completing a 26-month prison sentence.
In the morning hours on August 21; according to Brig Kapil Rana, Commander Nowshera Brigade; a group of terrorists sneaked into India to this side of LoC and one among them came near the post and was found cutting fence.
On being challenged, one among them was brought down by the effective fire of Indian soldiers and one was later captured while others managed to retrieve.
The injured terrorist was identified as Tabarak Hussain and was immediately provided medical aid & life-saving surgery, including blood by the Indian soldiers.
During interrogation Tabarak had disclosed that before targeting the Indian post(s) they had carried 2-3 recces of the Indian forward posts and on the morning of August 21, Col Yunus Chaudhry of Pakistan Army signaled to go-ahead to target the post.
