Jammu, Oct 11: The Jammu Cyber Police has arrested two persons in online fraud case of issuance of visa to Dubai for the son of a complainant from Safakadal in Srinagar.
The Superintendent of Police, Cyber Police Jammu, Naresh Singh said that the team has succeeded in apprehending two fraudsters involved in Rs 3, 30,000 online cyber fraud case against the case registered at the Cyber Police Station Jammu.
The arrested persons were identified as Irshad Ahmed of Sarai Safa Kadal, Srinagar and Mohammed Tahir Khan of Watal Kadal, Safakadal, Srinagar.
“The complainant namely Sajjad Hussain of Dool, Kishtwar had reported that he was duped by unknown fraudsters on the pretext of issuance of Visa to Dubai for his son following which he got trapped in the luring offer and consequently lost Rs 3,30,000 in multiple transactions,” said the officer.
During the course of investigation, cyber police succeeded in identifying the fraudsters, he said.
The SP said that after ascertaining the location of the accused persons, they were arrested and on Monday, they were produced before the competent court and the police remand was obtained.
Mr Singh has appealed to the general public not to share bank OTP, UPI PIN etc and never get illued with cheap online offers floating on social media and other online platforms offering products with unjustified and cheaper price. UNI
