Rajouri, January 1, 2026:
In a significant success against drug trafficking, Police Station Thanamandi arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered 7.80 grams of heroin during a patrolling operation on the Shahdra Sharief road.
The accused has been identified as Mohd. Iqbal, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, resident of Ward No. 3, Majoor Rajdhani. He was apprehended by a police team while on routine patrol duty.
Police stated that the arrested individual is a habitual drug peddler who had been evading arrest for a long time. He is allegedly involved in supplying narcotics, particularly targeting college students and local youth, posing a serious threat to public safety.
In this regard, FIR No. 01/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Thanamandi.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify other persons involved in the drug trafficking network.
