Jammu Police Tightens Noose Around Drug and Liquor Mafia; Two Arrested in Separate Operations

Jammu, Oct 09: In a continued and unwavering drive against the twin menaces of drug abuse and illegal liquor trade, Jammu (Rural) Police has once again demonstrated its zero-tolerance policy by apprehending two individuals in separate operations and seizing contraband substances and illicit liquor.
Drug Peddler Nabbed with Heroin in Miran Sahib: In a swift and well-coordinated operation, the police team of Police Station Miran Sahib, led by the resolute and diligent SHO Inspector Azad Manhas, under the overall supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu, Irshad Hussain Rather (JKPS) and SDPO RS Pura, apprehended a notorious drug peddler from the Phinder area.
The accused, identified as Rohit Kumar @ Pidha, son of Vijay Kumar, resident of Phinder, Miran Sahib, was intercepted on the basis of a specific input. Upon frisking, the team recovered 06 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
In this regard, FIR No. 131/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib, and further investigation is ongoing to trace the backward and forward linkages of the accused. The timely intervention by Jammu Police has once again thwarted an attempt to push harmful substances into the community.
The operation is a strong reflection of SP Irshad Hussain Rather’s firm leadership and relentless vision to cleanse society from the grip of narcotics. Under his command, Jammu Police continues to tighten the noose around drug smugglers and peddlers operating in the region.
Bootlegger Caught with 114 Quarters of Illicit Whisky in Ghou Manhasan: In a separate operation, the team of Border Police Post (BPP) Sandwan, under the command of In-Charge ASI Raj Singh, achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a bootlegger and recovering 114 quarters of illicit JK Desi Whisky from his possession.
The accused, Subash Chander, son of Basakhi Ram, resident of Ward No. 4, Ghou Manhasan, was apprehended during routine patrolling in the area. Acting swiftly and professionally, the police team conducted a search and seized the large consignment of illegal liquor intended for black marketing.
FIR No. 216/2025 U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Domana, and further investigation is in progress to identify the supply chain behind this illegal operation.
