Jammu, May 23: In a heartening initiative aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in remote regions, a comprehensive medical camp was successfully organized at village Dhanna Dhanu in Block Chauki Chaura, Akhnoor. The camp was the result of a collaborative effort between the Indian Army’s Chenab Rangers and the Sub-Divisional Administration of Chauki Chaura.
The event was inaugurated amidst a warm reception from the locals and in the esteemed presence of Mr Ankush Hans (JKAS), Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chauki Chaura; Mr Pramod Kumar, Tehsildar Chauki Chaura; Mr. Mandeep Chib, Panchayat Secretary of Dhanna Jalara; along with all Panchs, Lambardars, and enthusiastic villagers from the adjoining areas.
This health outreach initiative was specifically designed to cater to the medical needs of residents in the hilly and hard-to-reach areas of the Akhnoor Sub-Division. A joint team of medical professionals from both the Indian Army and the Government Hospital, Chowki Chaura, offered their services. The team included four experienced doctors-among them, a female physician-one pharmacist, and four nursing assistants. Their presence underscored a seamless coordination between military and civil medical units in ensuring quality care for underserved communities.
The camp provided free medical consultations and distributed essential life-saving medicines at no cost to patients. The services were particularly appreciated by elderly citizens, women, and children who formed the majority of attendees. The overwhelmingly positive response from the local population highlighted the pressing need for such healthcare initiatives in rural Jammu and Kashmir.
This noble endeavor not only strengthened civil-military cooperation but also reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Army and local administration to public welfare and community service. The success of the camp stands as a shining example of how integrated efforts can bring meaningful change to the lives of those living in the country’s remotest corners.
