Rajouri, Sept 3: Alert troops of the Indian Army on Sunday averted a major tragedy by detecting and neutralising a suspicious object (Tiffin Box) probably an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) kept near a culvert on NH144A in the vicinity of Army camp at Narian in Rajouri district.
Input regarding a suspicious object (Tiffin Box) was received at about 4.45 am and three teams from the Army Camp moved to the spot and established a “Naka’ on the highway NH144 A in between Kallar & Balabenue.
The Army also informed the police. After specific intelligence input, a joint team of Army and police acted swiftly and located the suspected IED made in a Tiffin Box placed at a location where it could have caused damages to human lives, construction work, and vehicles if had been triggered.
“Bomb disposal team moved to the location and successfully neutralised the IED at about 8.15 am,” said PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.
