Jammu, Dec 15: The Sub Divisional Magistrate Marh Rajeev Khajuria placed Mohd. Mushtaq, Patwari, patwar halqa Thub under suspension following the corruption charges, with immediate effect, besides ordered Niab Tehsildar Marh to conduct a detailed enquiry into the allegations of bribery against the said patwari.
Recently, the SDM received a complaint regarding the corruption by one Smt. Sheela Devi widow of Lt. Angrez Singh, who approached the said patwari for entering the virasati inteqal and also issuing Frad intekhaab in her favour as she needed to sell the said land.
The reports pouring in the office reveals that the said lady was under the debt due solemnizing the marriage of daughter and to get rid from the debt she planned to sell the land. In this process, she approached the concerned Patwari namely Mohd. Mushtaq in the month of July 2022. The said patwari shamelessly demanded & accepted Rs 75000 from the helpless and widow lady as corruption in lieu of entering virasati inteqal & issuing fard. Despite fleecing the handsome money as corruption from the old lady, he did not issue the Fard Intekhaab till date and Patwari has opted the dilly delaying policy intentionally to harass the woman with a hidden motto. Facing the severe hardship in making several rounds of office of the said Patwari, she got tired and approached SDM Marh for justice. The honest SDM Rajeev Khajuria immediately called patwari to his office alongwith record & initiated an inquiry to ascertain the truth in the case. He entered into cross questioning from the Patwari in front of complainant & witness and smelled that there was something fishy in the said corruption charges. SDM was personally convinced by the charges alleged by the Lady against the Patwari, he immediately placed the tainted Patwari under suspension.
The prompt action taken by SDM against the corruption has sent a loud and clear message that no one will be spared if found involved in corruption charges, besides he has set precedent for others too even for other SDMs who are sitting on the complaints being lodged by the people against their subordinates in their sub division.
The order said that Niab Tehsildar Marh has to submit report of enquiry within 15 days & said Patwari shall remain attached in the office of Tehsildar Marh till further orders.
