PHE employees sold old pipes on Sunday to scrap-dealer at Narwal

Jammu, Jul 05: During construction process of underground drainage at BC Road Jammu near General Bus Stand some old pipes of PHE were recovered during the digging or earth but these pipes on Sunday were sold to ragman at Narwal instead of tasking to its store.
There are reports that some officials of PHE department in collusion with Project Manager and the employees of the concerned which is carrying the construction work has loaded a private carriage tempo on Sunday near about at 4 pm with the pipes and then has gone to weigh the weight of pipes on a private weigh at Narwal.
The sources close have told us on the condition of anonymity that the some employees of PHE and employees of the agency have sold the pipes to a scrap dealer at Narwal against hefty amount. The hiring of a private carrier was out of syllabus as the PHE has its own trucks and load carriers but they have hired a private load carrier.
The concerned Executive Engineer PHE Vijay Gupta has told on mobile that he would enquire the matter in depth and would also take strict action against the person who would found involved in this scam. He has not denied about the scam of stealing of pipes and later selling to a scrap dealer but he assured that he would surely act in this case. Though he expressed his innocence over this issue but he exuded that he would not tolerate such acts. He said that these old/used pipes are the property of the department and so no one can take it away at any cost.
