Inquiry initiated against female doctor, action after report: CMO

Rajouri, July 5: In a first-of-its-kind development, a Medical Officer (MO) posted in a Community Health Center (CHC) at Kotranka in the Rajouri district displayed a poster on the door of her Outpatient Department (OPD) room with the message –‘DOGS + FAKE MEDIA NOT ALLOWED HERE’.
Immediately after the video of the message went viral on social media platforms, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr. Iqbal Malik reached on the spot and reportedly brought the matter to the notice of senior officers, including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
It has been alleged that the doctor in question, instead of attending to all the patients at CHC, she asks many of them to come to her clinic situated in the vicinity of the CHC for Ultra Sound tests on the pretext that UltraSound Machine of CHC is not functioning satisfactorily.
The matter was in the notice of local media persons and they several times raised the issue in their reports & the doctor was not on good terms with these reporters.
A few days back, reportedly a reporter again raised the issue and the doctor namely R.Jabeen became furious and displayed the poster on the door of the OPD room.
Local reporters have condemned this act of the doctor and raised a question mark over to whom the doctor is referring DOGS. They reportedly have taken up the matter with senior officers including Deputy Commissioner.
“Is CHC a veterinary hospital?” reporters said.
It has also been alleged that the doctor in question is charging Rs 700/-Rs800/- per Ultra Sound test at her clinic and even during duty hours she can be seen conducting UltraSound in her private clinic.
“An inquiry has been established in this matter which the concerned BMO will conduct and has been asked to submit a report within 2 days. As the video of the poster (on OPD door) has gone viral on social media platforms, and appropriate action will be taken under relevant rules against the doctor after the report” said Dr. Hamid Zargar, CMO, Rajouri.
In this connection Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO Kandi issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Ruksana Jabeen on Tuesday to explain her position along with the facts of the matter within 24 hours from serving of the notice.
