34 gm heroin, Rs 2,38,000, 2 weighing machines recovered, 5 arrested

Jammu, Jun 02: The Jammu & Kashmir Police has taken drug menace as a challenge and made a strategy to tackle it at any cost and those who are involved in drug-peddling has to quit or to face consequences of this illegal act. The higher authority of J&K police, which is already grappling with the terrorism are in no mood to let drug-peddlers operate in the J&K.
As a part of its drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police achieved major success by recovering 34 grams of heroin, cash Rs.2,38,000 along with other materials from five peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Janipur.
A police team of Police Station Janipur under the supervision of SDPO Jammu West Rahul Nagar was constituted. The team led by SHO PS Janipur Inspector Ajaz Haider while on naka duty near Suraksha Vihar Paloura received information regarding some drug peddlers. On this, police team along with EMIC raided at suspected location and rounded up five peddlers. On search 34 grams of heroin, cash Rs 2,38,000, 2 weighing machines, 2 foil wrappers, one Toka (sharp edge weapon) were recovered from their possession. The suspects were later identified as Jugal Kishore @ lucky son of Inder Dev resident of Sunderbani, Rajouri; Dheeraj Kumar son of Dev Raj resident of Sunderbani; Sumeet Kumar son of Ghani Sharma resident of Sunderbani; Saurab Thakur son of Joginder Singh resident of Katra; and Himanshu Raina son of Ashok Kumar resident of Sunderbani.
In this regard a case FIR No. 61 U/S 8/21/22/25/27(A)/29 NDPS Act got registered at PS Janipur and accused got arrested.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
Jammu police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
