A 1987 batch IPS police officer Mr Dilbagh Singh has arisen to the top post of Jammu & Kashmir Police as Director General of Police and mostly remained non-controversial officer and pro-people police officer.
The officer has served on very important assignments of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir including Ladakh and remained almost a successful officer. The pro-people policing is the aim of Dilbagh Singh and he accomplished it since his first day of joining as police officer.
His tenure as IGP Jammu is also the best period of his service tenure and he kept the same temperament during his service period. AS DGP of Jammu & Kashmir UT he has not left the people friendly attitude and work.
During his tenure as DGP Prison he tried his best to improve the condition of prisons in the Jammu & Kashmir. He was posted as DG Prison just after the escape of high profile Pakistan prisoner Naveed Jatt. Naveed Jatt is top LeT militant and wanted in many cases.
Dilbagh Singh was posted as DG Prisons to set things right. Before that he was Commandant General, Home Guards, SDRF, J&K. He improved the condition of prisons in Jammu & Kashmir and also made the prison escape-proof as no one can now escape from the prisons.
Singh has held important positions in Jammu and Kashmir Police including serving as the intelligence chief of the state. He started his carrier as the Additional Superintendent of Police in Kupwara district.
Singh has served as ADGP security, Inspector General of Police, IGP Crime and Railways, J&K; Intelligence Chief of J&K;
He has also served as IGP Traffic, J&K; IGP Home Guards, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police J&K; IGP Armed Police J&K and Director, Sher-e-Kashmir State Police Academy Udhampur.
