Jammu, June 28: Residents of Phallian Mandal have expressed grave concern after a snapped electricity wire collapsed along a public road, posing a serious threat to public safety.
According to locals, part of the damaged wire is lying on the ground while the remaining section is hanging dangerously from nearby trees. The affected area is frequently used by schoolchildren, commuters, elderly residents and farmers, raising fears of a fatal accident if the wire is live.
Villagers have urged the Power Development Department (PDD) to treat the matter as an emergency by immediately repairing or replacing the damaged wire. They have also requested the authorities to barricade the site, install warning signs and ensure public safety until the area is declared safe.
Residents stressed that prompt action is essential to prevent any loss of life, injury, damage to property or harm to livestock, and appealed to the authorities not to wait for an unfortunate incident before taking necessary action.
