GGM Science College Commemorates National Statistics Day 2026

The Department of Statistics, Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, celebrated National Statistics Day 2026 with great enthusiasm, intellectual engagement, and a strong commitment to promoting statistical awareness under the supervision of Principal, Prof (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta. The event was organized under the nationally declared theme, “Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data,” emphasizing the growing relevance of data-driven governance and evidence-based policy formulation in contemporary society.
The program commenced with a formal inaugural session, where faculty members and students gathered to mark the occasion. Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Head of the Department of Statistics, formally welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He highlighted the significance of National Statistics Day, observed annually in honor of the birth anniversary of eminent statistician Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis.
Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college and a distinguished Professor of Statistics in his comprehensive and thought-provoking speech shed light on the transformative power of administrative data in strengthening governance mechanisms.
