Jammu, October 8: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) J&K has registered a case under FIR No. 05/2025 U/S 5(1)(e) r/w 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, Police Station ACB Doda, against Surjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar (Election) posted at the DC Office, Rajouri.
The case was registered following a verification conducted by the ACB into allegations of disproportionate assets accumulated by the officer. The inquiry revealed that the accused was in possession of assets, both movable and immovable, in his own name and in the names of his family members, which were found to be grossly disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to the ACB, the assets include a double-storey house in District Ramban, a residential property at Janipur, Jammu, and another at DC Colony, Rajouri, besides a substantial bank balance, fixed deposits, LIC policies, a Swift car, luxury household items, electronic gadgets, and jewellery.
Searches were conducted at all three residential locations-Maitra (Ramban), Janipur (Jammu), and DC Colony (Rajouri)-after obtaining warrants from the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda. The searches were carried out in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
