Notorious Peddler Detained Under PITNDPS Act; Another Held with Heroin in Rajouri

Rajouri, October 7: In two separate actions, Rajouri Police have intensified their crackdown on narcotics, detaining a notorious drug peddler under the PITNDPS Act and arresting another individual with a heroin-like substance.
In the first action, Budhal Police detained a habitual drug peddler identified as Shoib Akhter, son of Mohd Anwar, a resident of Draj, Tehsil Kotranka, District Rajouri. The accused had been involved in multiple cases of drug peddling in the area.
Taking note of his repeated involvement in the illegal drug trade, the competent authority issued detention orders under the PITNDPS Act, following which he was lodged in Jammu Jail.
In the second action, a team from Rajouri Police Station, during routine patrolling and an ongoing drive against narcotics smuggling and abuse, apprehended a person sitting in a car (registration number CH01BC-2071) near the new bus stand, Sailani Bridge.
Upon questioning, the individual behaved suspiciously and was identified as Mohd Laqib, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Thandikasi, Rajouri. A search led to the recovery of approximately 6 grams of a heroin-like substance from his possession.
A case FIR No. 503/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri, and further investigation is underway to identify his associates and sources of procurement.
These actions form part of the Rajouri Police’s sustained campaign against drug smuggling, aimed at curbing the spread of narcotics and safeguarding the youth from the menace of substance abuse.
