Kathua, August 14: Continuing its resolute drive against drug trafficking, Kathua Police have arrested a drug peddler and seized approximately 6.82 grams of heroin (Chitta) along with an electric auto used in the transportation of the contraband. The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS).
On August 13, 2025, a naka was established by a team from Police Station Lakhanpur, led by Insp. Tariq Ahmed (SHO, P/S Lakhanpur), under the supervision of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS) and DySP DAR Sh. Ritesh Samyal. During the checking near Jagatpur, police intercepted an electric auto (Regd. No. JK08Q-6023) heading towards NHW Lakhanpur.
On suspicion, the vehicle was stopped and searched, leading to the recovery of approximately 6.82 grams of heroin-like substance from the possession of:
Ranjeet Singh,
Son of Hari Singh,
Resident of Near Govt. Middle School, Jandore,
Tehsil & District Kathua.
The narcotic substance was seized on the spot, the accused was arrested, and the vehicle was also impounded. A case FIR No. 98/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur, and further investigation is underway.
