Rajouri, March 27: Amid ongoing Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) in the Thanamandi, Bafliaz, and Surankote areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts following potential terror threats, security forces have busted an old/abandoned terrorist hideout in the Manyal Gali area of Thanamandi tehsil
Based on intelligence inputs, a joint search operation was launched by the 61 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) Thanamandi a few days ago.
On Thursday, the troops conducted a coordinated search in a forest near Manyal Gali and discovered the abandoned hideout.
During the search of the hideout, the troops recovered five live rounds of ammunition, one hand grenade (neutralized on the spot by the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad), a small gas cylinder, a small solar panel, a large packet of Maggi noodles, medicines, and packets of dry fruits.
The presence of these items suggests possible militant activity or that the hideout was abandoned recently.
In light of this operation, security forces have heightened surveillance and issued a high alert across the region.
