Two Punjab residents arrested with 58g narcotics; One booked under PIT-NDPS Act

Rajouri, March 27: In a decisive action against drug smuggling, Rajouri police in two separate actions have arrested two drug smugglers residents of Amritsar (Punjab) along with narcotic substance and booked a chronic drug smuggler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
In the first action, a police team from Rajouri police station during routine patrolling near Children Park-PWD Dak Bungalow on Thursday noticed suspicious activities of two individuals after noticing police presence.
Police said their suspicious behaviour prompted the police team to chase and intercept them.
On their personal search police team recovered 58 grams of heroin-like narcotics substance from their possession.
Both were arrested on the spot and have been identified as Vinod Singh son of Mohinder Singh resident of Fatehpur (Amritsar) and Raja Singh son of Tara Singh resident of Rakh Shikargarh (Amritsar).
Both the drug smugglers have been booked at Rajouri police station under various sections of NDPS Act (FIR NO.155/2025).
Further investigation is underway to trace both the backward and forward linkages of the drug network
In another action, Rajouri Police have booked a chronic drug smuggler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS).
The accused, identified as Mohd Waqar son of Nazir Hussain r/o Dhanore Gorsian (Rajouri) has been detained after a warrant of detention was issued by the Competent Authority.
“The action comes as part of Rajouri Police continuing crackdown on drug traffickers and peddlers operating in Rajouri,” said police.
Rajouri Police reiterated their commitment to a drug-free Rajouri and warned that stringent legal measures will continue against those involved in illicit drug activities.
