VC, Registrar BGSBU clarify suspension of BGSBUTA President, assure due process and compliance

Rajouri, March 3: In response to allegations from faculty members regarding the arbitrary and unjust suspension of the President of the BGSBU Teachers Association (BGSBUTA), Vice Chancellor BGSBU Prof. Jawaid Iqbal has defended the decision, stating that due process was followed based on multiple complaints against the President dating back to 2021.
Addressing the media in Rajouri, Prof. Iqbal, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, IAS-who is also serving as the Registrar of BGSBU-emphasized that the suspension was not arbitrary but was necessitated due to non-compliance with institutional norms.
He assured that a fair inquiry is underway and that the concerned individual, Assistant Prof. Dr. Parvez Abdullah, Head of the MBA Department, will be given an opportunity to present his case once the process is completed.
Clarifying the university’s administrative status, Prof. Iqbal stated that no teaching association currently exists, as the tenure of the previous association has ended. He also reassured that classwork remains unaffected, and the university is functioning smoothly.
Prof. Iqbal urged employees to adhere to institutional rules instead of resorting to pressure tactics, stressing that the university’s progress remains a priority.
“We are not against teachers; we want the university to progress, but compliance with norms is essential,” he said.
VC said that the admission process for the new academic session will commence soon and urged all stakeholders to focus on student admissions and the smooth conduct of examinations to ensure that students do not suffer.
