Jammu, Aug 22: In a decisive operation against drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, under their ongoing initiative “Sanjeevani,” have successfully apprehended a drug peddler in Narwal, a region located in the Subdivision East of the South Zone. The operation led to the seizure of approximately 1 kilogram and 230 grams of a substance resembling heroin, highlighting the police’s commitment to combating the drug menace in the region.
While addressing the media persons, SP South Jammu told that on August 21, 2024, Gulzar Hussain, son of Hassan Din and a resident of Baghyal Dhara, District Poonch, was taken into custody in Narwal. The arrest was the result of meticulous efforts by the police team, which was spearheaded by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Bahu Fort and the Incharge of Police Post Narwal. The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of the Senior Deputy Police Officer (SDPO) East and the Superintendent of Police (SP) South Ajay Sharma JKPS.
Following the arrest, a case has been registered under FIR No. 200/2024 at Police Station Bahu Fort. The charges include violations under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, which pertain to the illegal possession and trafficking of narcotic substances.
This substantial recovery is a significant step forward in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes in the area. Narwal and its surrounding locales have been identified as hotspots for drug activity, making this operation particularly crucial in disrupting the local drug trade.
