Hakim Din provided food, shelter & helped terrorists in attack & leave the area safely

Rajouri, June 19: On Wednesday (June 18) The Jammu Jotting carried a story under the heading “Reasi pilgrims’ bus attack: Reportedly couple detained by police’ that senior police officers from Reasi district have detained a Nomad couple from Bandrai village (Sunderbani-Rajouri district) for involvement in Reasi terror attack.
On Wednesday, SSP Reasi, Mohita Sharma in a press briefing announced the first arrest in connection with a terror attack on Pilgrims’ bus which was on its way to Katra (Vaishno Devi Shrine) from Shiv Khori temple.
Nine people, including 7 pilgrims-among them a 2 years old boy, were killed in the terrorist attack while 41 were injured.
It is pertinent to mention here that village Bandrai falls in Sunderbani subdivision of Rajouri district and is very close to the site where the terrorists targeted the bus.
“In a major achievement Reasi police have made the first arrest in Reasi bus attack Hakim Din s/o Makhan resident of Bandrai village of Rajouri district who had provided logistic support to three terrorists involved in the attack,” said SSP Reasi.
She said that Hakim was involved in harbouring the terrorists’ multiple times and even guided them to the attack site and after the attack Hakim led the terrorists out of the area.
SSP further said that during sustained interrogation, Hakim Din admitted he had provided shelter, and other logistic support to a group of three terrorists and even worked as a guide for them.
“Hakim Also said that a day before the attack on the pilgrim’s bus the 3 terrorists stayed at his residence.
On the direction of the terrorists Hakim chose the site for the terror attack where no CCTV camera facility was available to capture their activities/identification.
He also informed that he was given Rs 6000 by the terrorists for helping them.
In this terror attack on the pilgrim’s bus Reasi police have registered a case (FIR No31/2024) under sections 302, 307 IPC; 7/27 Arms Act; &16/18/20 UAPA.
SSP further said that on human inputs and technical evidence about 150 suspects have been rounded up in this case for questioning.
“The arrested person is a prime militant associate who helped the terrorists in the execution of the attack. Further interrogation and investigation of the case is going on,” she added.
On Tuesday two more persons were detained by a team from Ransoo Police post, reportedly including the son of Hakim Din, for questioning in this case.
On Tuesday the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a high-level meeting chaired by Amit Shah, Union Home Minister handed over the Reasi terror attack case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Despite every effort, including continuing search of the entire area, use of drones & helicopters and other high-tech gadgets to trace & track the fleeing terrorists, no contact has been established with them even on the 10th day of the incident today.
